Raven Black Titanic Fossil is one of two kindred “state of the world” bowls from the Resonance and Vanguard collection (A12V102, A08R33), hand-turned from ash logs though from different trees, sharing a phenomenal form born from nature’s decay. At 35 cm in diameter, its Raven Black finish – achieved through ancient burning and charring – creates a timeless, commanding statement, with the exterior’s deep char highlighting the dramatic contrast between healthy wood and vast, fragile rot left by decomposing ash roots. This sculptural quality evokes a Titanic relic, pulling the eye into cavernous voids and rugged textures that speak of relentless transformation. It stands as bold art without function yet full of presence, or as a stage for jewellery, literature, or a fine bottle of wine, commanding attention and respect.
At Scar & Wonder, work begins with abandoned and reclaimed wood. Each piece is an act of discovery: unpredictability shaping the silhouette, with singular marks – graceful cracks, voids, twists and textures – becoming its character rather than its flaws. Every Scar & Wonder object is “one of a kind”, finished with natural ancient methods and marked with its own hand-stamped signature. Every piece from the Vanguard collection comes with a unique Book of Origin, documenting its journey from the source of the wood, through the process, to the final details of its finishing. This book marks the beginning of a new life: a place for you to set your intention as its steward and to inscribe the next chapters of its story. Together, we shape value on multiple levels – sentimental, emotional and financial – choosing depth over disposability, and standing for a world in which longevity and meaning outweigh surface glitter and passing trends.
