Noir d’Or is a bowl from the Vanguard collection, hand-shaped from an oak log and finished in our signature “Noir d’Or” style – “Black Gold”.

The exterior is intensely black, with rich, sculpted grooves that emphasize its bold, sculptural silhouette and turn it into a clear statement piece in any interior. Inside, a noble golden–amber tone reveals the unique grain of elm, guiding the eye along growth rings and irregularities that tell the story of the tree.

With its 38 cm diameter, this bowl bridges function and presence – it can live purely as an art object or become a stage for jewellery, books, or the objects of your daily rituals.

At Scar & Wonder, work begins with abandoned and reclaimed wood. Each piece is an act of discovery: unpredictability shaping the silhouette, with singular marks – graceful cracks, voids, twists and textures – becoming its character rather than its flaws.

Every Scar & Wonder object is one of a kind, finished with natural ancient methods and marked with its own hand-stamped signature. Every piece from the Vanguard collection comes with a unique Book of Origin, documenting its journey from the source of the wood, through the making process, to the final details of its finishing. This book marks the beginning of a new life: a place for you to set your intention as its steward and to inscribe the next chapters of its story.

Together, we shape value on multiple levels – sentimental, emotional and financial – choosing depth over disposability, and standing for a world in which longevity and meaning outweigh surface glitter and passing trends.
